Lorica segmentata: introduction

Lorica segmentata: introduction

Before the pubblication of some guides to build this type of lorica, I want to introduce the story on its reconstruction, the origin of its name, the various types, highlighting aspects and problematics that have accompanied the laminate cuirass until nowadays, with a look at the future (available in Italian version). This page instead contains the changes and the innovations (towards the original) that will be introduced from time to time. The original version is written by M.C.

Lorica Segmentata: Corbridge shape

Lorica Segmentata: Corbridge shape

The first model of segmental cuirass that I introduce is the Corbridge, a village in Northumberland England, where mostly military iron artefacts were excavated in 1964, thanks to those finds scholars and practising armourers understood and rebuild the Lorica Segmentata (full version is available in the Italian Section). This page instead contains the changes and the innovations (towards the original) that will be introduced from time to time.

Corbridge type A

how to build a lorica segmentata cuirass: the Corbridge type A model

In this tutorial I describe how to build a lorica segmentata cuirass, the model called Corbridge type A, from the plates to the assembly. In the next one I will publish the full-sized patterns (as usual the full version is available in the Italian Section). This page instead contains the changes and the innovations (towards the original) that will be introduced from time to time. The original version is written by Matthew Amt, and is available here.
